Epithelial Cancer Cell Migration : A Role for Chemokine
نویسندگان
چکیده
We investigated the possibility that chemokine gradients influence migration of human ovarian epithelial tumor cells. Of 14 chemokine receptors investigated, only CXCR4 was expressed on ovarian cancer cells. CXCR4 mRNA localized to a subpopulation of tumor cells in ovarian cancer biopsies. Ovarian cancer cell lines and cells freshly isolated from ascites expressed CXCR4 protein. The CXCR4 ligand, CXCL12, was found in ascites from 63 patients. CXCL12 elicited intracellular calcium flux and directed migration and changes in integrin expression in ovarian cancer cells. CXCR4 may influence cell migration in the peritoneum, a major route for ovarian cancer spread, and could be a therapeutic target.

Berberine suppresses migration of MCF-7 breast cancer cells through down-regulation of chemokine receptors
Objective(s): Berberine is one of the main alkaloids and it has been proven to have different pharmacological effects including inhibition of cell cycle and progression of apoptosis in various cancerous cells; however, its effects on cancer metastasis are not well known. Cancer cells obtain the ability to change their chemokine system and convert into metastatic cells. In this study, we examine...

متن کاملThe Level of Mesenchymal-Epithelial Transition Autophosphorylation is Correlated with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Migration
Background: The MET receptor is a critical member of cancer-associated RTKs and plays an important role in different biological activities, including differentiation, migration, and cell proliferation. Methods: In this study, novel MET inhibitors were introduced and applied on esophageal squamous carcinoma cell line KYSE-30, and the level of proliferation and migration, as well as the activated...
متن کاملThe role of chemokines and chemokine receptors in mycosis fungoides
Background: Chemokines are a family of cytokines initially characterized by their capacity to induce chemotaxis, or directed leukocyte migrations. These receptors are activated by chemotactic cytokines called chemokines. Interactions between chemokines and chemokine receptors also are involved in tumorigenesis, migration and invasion of lymphoma cells. Methods: An English literature search...
متن کاملAnalysis of epithelial mesenchymal transition markers in breast cancer cells in response to stromal cell-derived factor 1
Introduction: Metastasis is the main cause of cancer death; however, the underlying mechanisms of metastasis are largely unknown. The chemokine of stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF1) and the process of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT), both have been declared as important factors to promote cancer metastasis; however, Conspicuously, the relation between them has not been recognized well...
